Adults in active cancer treatment who live in Miami-Dade County who enroll in our program. Women are served through our main program anywhere in the county. Men are currently served through a dedicated program at Miami Cancer Institute, and that program opens to all men in 2027. Active treatment means infusion chemotherapy, radiation, first-line immunotherapy, or within two weeks of surgery to remove cancer. If you are not sure whether yours qualifies, call and ask — we would rather hear from you.

No. Rides are free to members up to $100* each way— no fees, no co-pays, and nothing to claim back later.

We provide transportation through Lyft Pass and Uber Vouchers. You must have the app installed with a valid credit card for the benefit to work. If you are unable to use the app, or do not have a valid form of payment, you can still use this benefit by calling us the day before to set up your ride.

The only thing we do not cover are tips for the driver. You also do not need to demonstrate financial need. The Pack is able to provide services at no cost because of our donors, sponsors, and the people who fundraise for us.

If your trip is more than $100, the app will charge you for the difference. This is not likely to happen, as the average cost of a ride is $28.

Transportation is part of the Pack Program, so there is one application covering all of our services. Ask your oncologist for a letter on hospital letterhead showing your diagnosis date, your cancer type and subtype, and your stage. A sample letter you can hand to your care team is on our website. Our transportation covers up to $100 each way. If you live in Homestead, and need to travel to Plantation, your ride is likely to be fully covered. If it goes over, the ride share app will charge the difference to your card.

Yes. A caregiver or family member can ride with you to and from treatment. Please let us know so we can plan for the extra passenger.

It depends on how you travel. Members who can use a Lyft Pass or an Uber voucher on their phone request rides on demand, whenever they need them. If using those apps is not workable for you, call us by 5 PM the day before and we will program the ride for you.
